This year’s events, hosted by Graham Norton, was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel London and was packed with hopefuls including Dawn French, Steve Coogan, Rob Brydon, Gillian Anderson, Jim Broadbent, Jessie Wallace, Benedict Cumberbatch, Miranda Hart and Matt Smith.
The sections most interesting to us was Best Leading Actor and Best Single Drama as these categories included nominees from the Victoria Wood Drama, Eric and Ernie.

Probably the toughest category was Best Leading Actor where Daniel Rigby was up against competition from Matt Smith (Dr Who), Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) and Jim Broadbent (Any Human Heart).
Surprising everyone, including the BBC website (who announced the winner to be Benedict at least 30 minutes prior to the event), Daniel took the honours. Judging by his work on Eric and Ernie, he will no doubt be back in future years too. A fantastic result.
Next category was Best Single Drama, and again Eric and Ernie were up against strong shows; I Am Slave, The Road to Coronation Street and The Special Relationship. We had high hopes for this one but sadly it was beaten to first place by the Weatherfield saga.
Congratulations to all winner and nominees.
