Madam Tussauds in Blackpool are now displaying their brand new models of Morecambe and Wise as part of the attractions £10m regeneration.
Originally the comedy duo were measured and cast in 1972 for display in the London venue, and the results, to be frank, were not very good. You can see images of them on our page. These old version were removed from display and melted down in 1974.
The new models, presumably using the original measurements but using new techniques, are surprisingly accurate and somewhat scarily real, especially Eric. They have captured every detail of his face, and even close up it is a brilliant likeness.
Both of the boys are depicted in their famous dance pose and are created from the mid-late 1970’s era judging by the facial textures and suits.
Gary Morecambe, Eric’s son, was also impressed by the models, saying; “They look really good and I think my Father is particularly impressive.”
The previous waxworks, Louis Tussauds, is now replaced by Madam Tussauds, the first in the UK outside of London. Other newly created models to be seen will include Bruce Forsyth, Susan Boyle and David Beckham.
