On with the review…
Like many annuals of the time, this large format book is packed with pictures, jokes, prank adverts and general silliness.

There are pages dedicated to each, covering such things as family lines and past achievements. Some, like the family lines, are accompanied by pictures, and are completely made up for fun. Others include paper clippings from when Eric and Ern first started out in the business.

The vast majority of the book is aimed at comedy, and as they were usually given as presents for Christmas, it achieves this well. Comic articles intermix with cartoons and photo stories, and the odd celebrity gets a look in too.

There is a 4 page spread on football tips from Eric, his stooge for this happens to be one Kevin Keegan. Various aspects of the game are covered from first emerging from the tunnel, to aggression and penalty taking.

Ernie isn’t missed out either, he gets to share several pages in photo story entitled; Last Tango in Harpenden. A heart wrenching love story staring Ern and Glenda Jackson. Will there be a happy ending?

Ernies wig gets its own double spread, showing off different looks from bank robber to Kojak and there’s a celebrity gossip column as well.

All in all, a good way to waste a few minutes, especially with the old paper cuttings and reviews.
