Britain's Most Loved and Best Comedy Double Act

Cinderella and Dick Whittington

Audio material Review from 2009

Cover
This 1975 charity album was produced for The Stars Organisation For Spastics and featured many top stars of the time.

The album has two audio pantomimes, one on each side, with a running narration and various guests and celebrities playing the various roles.

Eric and Ern appear on side one, Cinderella, playing the ugly sisters Erica and Ernestine, who have their own slot after which they pop up throughout the story at regular intervals.

Other famous performers appearing in Cenderella include Ed Stewart (Narrator), Nerys Hughes (Cinderella), Brian Murphy and Yootha Joyce, Norman Wisom and Basil Brush.

Performers in Dick Whittington include Roy Castle (Dick Whittington), Harry Secombe, Arthur Askey, David Jacobs and Pete Murray as the narrator. Also in this, Eric appears as ‘himself’.

Anyone who has seen the recent celebrity Pantomimes on the television will know what to expect, although there is no rude jokes or harsh language. It’s all done in good humour with jokes a plenty and silly sound effects to add to the atmosphere.

All in all a good listen if you can track it down.
