Morecambe & Wise Family Fun Book

Book Review from 2007

Typical cartoon
This really isn't a Morecambe & Wise book., It isn't about them or written by them (probably), or by anyone that knew them. It's a bit of an oddity and I suspect that their names were used because of the status factor.

A forward by Robert Morley explains what it is about Morecambe & Wise that attracts so many fans, and gives way to a short section on Eric and Ern themselves.

Because this publication is linked with KP (the suppliers of fine pub snacks) the first section covers Eric & Erns search for nuts. A brief piece about their task of checking that every pub is stocked with KP nuts. It tries to be witty - but fails.

Next comes a short biography of Eric and Ern, from their first meeting, to stealing material to use in their own very early shows.

"We pinched material from where-ever we could. Laurel & Hardy were our idols, still are. Then we used a lot of Abbott and Costello's material." Ernie reveals.

There are brief paragraphs covering "Me by Eric" and "Me by Ernie" before dropping into two more sections entitled "Wise by Morecambe" and "Morecambe by Wise". After that (page 30) the book contains only cartoons in the old postcard style, mainly in black and white.

After a small section at the back about throwing a good party with a few recipes thrown in, it's 4 pages of Eric and Ern talking about various things such as sport and hobbies.

Out of 145 pages, you get about 13 pages of Morecambe & Wise! Many of which are to be found on this site. (see links on the left)
