Radio Show Rescheduled

The much anticipated radio 4 show about the recently discovered rare tapes in the garage of Doreen Wise, has been rescheduled. With plans to improve/expand the show mean it will now been shown in spring.

Eric's Car Found

The first Rolls Royce owned by Eric Morecambe has been saved from a scrapheap by a Canforth businessman. The 1971 Silver Shadow was just days away from being stripped in a scrapyard in Shewsbury when Peter Yates discovered it. He is now in the process of fully restoring it to be used for weddings and other functions. We hope to have more on this soon.

Morecambe Royal Show

Morecambe, the smash hit play will have a slot on this year's Royal Variety Performance. The show due to be shown 16th December will include only a small section of the show, best seen live. Check out our Features for more details about the show.

Welcome to our seasonal update. Apart from tidying up a few gremlins in the site, we have been busy gathering and creating new material. This update sees a new feature on Janet Webb, an update to the proposed Eric Morecambe Museum and updated images of the Ernie Wise statue. We review Gary Morecambe's new book plus finally release our full interview with Joan Morecambe, previously edited down to retain certain material to be used in Gary's book. Rare Tapes Found

A large collection of rare and never before heard tapes have been discovered by Doreen Wise during a recent garage clear out. The tapes, some dating back to the sixties, cover many aspects of Eric and Ern's career including five episodes of their first radio show YOYO (You're Only Young Once). Other gems include recordings of their summer shows in Blackpool and Great Yarmouth. This material will be featured on an up-coming Radio 4 show on Boxing Day. CD Release

The BBC are set to release a 'facsimile' of the 1976 LP 'Its Morecambe & Wise' on CD as part of the Vintage Beeb collection. The release date is set for 4th Feb 2010. The CD contains various sketches including The Diamond Ring In The Window and Bob Hope's Chief Scriptwriter. Judging by the word 'facsimile', we presume there will be no additional content. Thanks to Andrew for heads up.

You'll Miss Me When I'm Gone, the brand new book by Gary Morecambe will be released on Thursday 15th October. There are many new interviews and discoveries about the life of Eric, and well worth buying. The BBC have already picked up on a new revelation in the book with Ernie wanting to break the act up in the early 50's, and more details are due to be published in the Guardian and Sunday Express. We hope to get a full review out soon.
